A parent sent this along to me... It's a video about a dam removal in Oregon. What's that music in the background you ask?? Why, it's none other than our 2014/15 Chamber Orchestra. Enjoy! https://vimeo.com/135754205
Both the Bands and Orchestras have concerts this week!
First - The Cheldelin Bands will be performing their last concert of the school year in the Cheldelin Courtyard (weather permitting) on Tuesday, May 26th at 6PM. Parents are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and lawn chairs. We'll have folding metal chairs available as well as some picnic benches. It'll be a fun way to spend your evening enjoying some music with your favorite musicians! Second - The Level III & IV Orchestras will be opening the final concert for the Corvallis Elementary String Program on Saturday afternoon, May 30th, 3PM in the Crescent Valley High School Auditorium. Call time is 2:30 in B2 (the orchestra room). If they are comfortable, students should tune their instruments before they leave home, so adjustments will be minimal. Many of our current members began their love of string playing in Elementary Strings and we've been given a great opportunity to share the stage with them! There is an encouraged $3 entry fee - I have complementary tickets for anyone who wishes to have them. All students auditioning to participate in the Corvallis Chamber Orchestra must submit a recording of themselves performing:
A two (or three) octave major scale. A two (or three) octave natural, harmonic and melodic minor scale. (3 scales) A solo of their choice that exemplifies their strengths on their instrument – No longer than 5 minutes please. The two excerpts provided for your instrument. One emphasizes lyrical skill and the other, technical. On the recording – please say your first and last name, instrument and grade you will be entering in the fall of 2015. Also, if you currently have a private instructor, with whom you are studying. The due date is up to you. Submit when you feel ready. If you think you'll need the summer, please fill out the Premier Orchestra registration sheet on the home page. This will ensure you will receive updated information. Please send recordings to Mrs. Smith at [email protected] Thank you for auditioning. Best of luck to you all! Mrs. Smith Hello Families,

As promised, we have added a final concert on to our year! Mark your calendars for May 30th, 2015 3-5 PM. We have been invited to open and perform for the CYSA Elementary Strings concert at their final program. This is quite a nice opportunity for those students who will be moving into middle school next year to see what they have to look forward to AND they get to hear the middle school orchestras! Call time for both Level III and IV will be 2:30 PM There is a $3 fee for this concert, however if this is a hardship, please let me know and I will make sure you have tickets. Thank you! Due to the Band and Orchestra traveling to festival that day, Level III will not meet. Please discuss this with your families, as there will be NO BUS SERVICE on the day.
I'll see you Friday, May 1st! Thanks, Mrs. Smith Here are links to each of the numbers performed at the church earlier this month. Enjoy!
